How to select this device

How many write cycles are needed?

Fault logs and odometer data are written continuously; check endurance at the rated temperature (often specified at 85 °C or 125 °C, not 25 °C).

Data retention and temperature?

Retention is specified at temperature — a 100-year figure at 25 °C may only be a few years at 125 °C. Read the retention vs. temperature curve.

FRAM offers far higher endurance and fast writes but costs more and has fewer automotive sources; EEPROM remains the default for cost-sensitive nodes.
